Robert Lowe is the CEO and President of Wellspring Worldwide and Managed Development Services, sister firms focused on improving the practice of technology commercialization throughout the world. As a recognized expert in technology transfer and commercialization, Dr. Lowe has been interviewed by and quoted in a wide range of media, including Forbes Magazine, Radio BBC, Inc Magazine, and MIT Technology Review. Dr. Lowe was previously the founding Director of Enterprise Creation at Carnegie Mellon University, a position created to provide management advice and assistance to the university's many start-up companies. As a former professor of entrepreneurship at Carnegie Mellon University, he authored over a dozen academic papers on technology commercialization and start-ups.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Lowe worked for the Boston Consulting Group where he advised clients in pharmaceuticals, consumer products, and industrial automation. He also worked for the University of California's Office of the President to develop metrics, performance evaluation software, and policy analysis related to the University of California's over 200 start-up companies.

Dr. Lowe earned his Ph.D. and MS from the University of California, Berkeley and undergraduate degrees in economics, finance, and computer information systems from the University of Michigan.

Bryan Mills
Chief Technology Officer

Bryan Mills is a technologist with over 10 years of experience developing robust, web-based applications. His passion is building technologies that enable users to be more informed and better equipped. Bryan is the technical architect behind Wellspring's Knowledge Management System and Gateway products. Beyond these products, Bryan's work has varied from building on-line marketplaces to engineering web-based tools to enable the deployment of network appliances.

Prior to joining Wellspring, Bryan co-founded and served as CTO of Cobind. He has also worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Timesys. He began his career as a Software Engineer at MetalSite and subsequently Management Science Associates after MSA acquired MetalSite. Bryan holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Bethany College. His academic research focuses on distributed systems and high speed networks.

Sandi Lowe
Vice-President of Interaction Design

Sandi Lowe is the Vice-President of Interaction Design with over a decade of experience making information easier to access and understand. Sandi leads the firm's usbility and design practice, working with both Wellspring clients as well as a variety of software and robotics start-up companies under Managed Development Services to help craft their initial product design. Sandi began her career at TMP Worldwide/Monster.com, serving in a variety of roles in the U.S. and Ireland, culminating in her role as Global Products Manager. After TMP, she was the Marketing Manager for Carnegie Mellon’s Center for Technology Transfer and Enterprise Creation. Following her position at CMU, Sandi was an Interaction Designer at design consultancy MAYA.

Ms. Lowe holds a Masters degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science where she specialized in designing software for usability. Ms. Lowe also holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing and Human Resources from the University of Michigan.

John Lamar Pierce
Vice-President of Business Services

J. Lamar Pierce teaches organizational strategy at the Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Pierce is responsible for Wellspring's business consulting services, which focuses on improving operations as well as creating and revitalizing strategy for non-profit institutions and for-profit corporations. In his academic research and consulting, Dr. Pierce has worked with firms in the automotive, non-profit music, semiconductor, consumer research, and other industries.

Prior to his academic career, Dr. Pierce was an operations engineer at Boeing Corporation. He holds a Ph.D and MS from the University of California, Berkeley in Business and Public Policy as well as a BS in Economics and BA in Music from the University of Puget Sound.
